We can help you get divorced in Connecticut without going to court if you meet certain requirements. The process takes about 35 days. A new Connecticut divorce law has made this possible as of October 2015. If you meet the requirements listed below, call us at 860 236-9350 for a no fault, no court quick divorce.
You and your spouse must cooperate to fill out certain forms, including a joint petition for divorce; separate financial affidavits with your income, expenses, debts and assets; forms to tell the court that you are each representing yourselves; and an agreement form if you will be dividing property, money or debt. The court will go over your paperwork. If everything is in order, you will get a notice stating that you are divorced. If the court needs further information, you will be given a court date.
To use this new rapid divorce law, you and your spouse must fill out certain forms, including financial affidavits listing all your income, expenses, assets and debts.
You must also meet the requirements for anyone trying to get divorced in Connecticut, including having lived in the state for 1 year.
If you do not meet these requirements (married over 9 years, have children, assets over $80,000, etc.), you can still get a no fault quick divorce if you and your spouse agree on how to resolve the issues of your divorce.
